Hohennueffen Castle Ruins and a Tulip Field

This last Saturday, we enjoyed a morning exploring Hohennueffen Castle which was built in 1140. The first few pics are just random shots through my window as we drove through cute towns.

Our first sighting of the castle!
I of course had to have Danny pull over for this picture for there were fields of yellow flowers everywhere.
The boys lead the walk to the castle.
There it is!

It was such a gorgeous day! We enjoyed seeing the fantastic views from the castle as well.

We were especially excited that the little food place was open. Everything is closed around here, so if we spot something open--we have lots of excitement! We ordered cheese cake, an apfel (apple) drink, and a cappucino/kaffee.

Embry felt the need to pet this statue.

As we came back down from leaving the castle, we pulled over to get a snapshot of it from a distance.

...and we most definitely had to stop at a tulip field to pick some for Mother's Day!! Embry was a great helper and was so excited to pick her own! The boys stayed unenthusiastic and didn't leave the van ;).

At least I have one eager participant to pick flowers with me!!!
