Our New Lifestyle
Over the last 7 years, I have slowly turned our family away from almost all processed foods, meat, canned goods, plastic containers, chemicals for cleaning (I use only vinegar-water), etc. We have come such a long ways---I make my own pizza sauce, enchilada sauce, sweet & sour sauce, taco seasoning, pizza dough, etc, etc, etc. It's finally become a fun task to create a bunch of these items and freeze them in little baggies so they become a quick and easy meal. Unfortunately I couldn't have a garden this last summer and I won't be able to have one next year either. I really got into drying or freezing herbs, and freezing vegetables. The next time I can have a garden, the next step I would like to take on is canning. We also consider ourselves home-vegetarians. We cannot say vegan, because man I love cheese! The veggie shreds sold at the store just do not cut it for me :). I know that this isn't the answer to perfect health, but I would like my family to know that I tried my best on giving them a healthy childhood without all of the added chemicals, preservatives, and steroids pumped into our foods.
