Embry's Gorgeous New (after some elbow grease and love) Dresser!

I was so excited to find this dresser for Embry on an online fb page.  It was perfect!  All I needed to do was change the paint color. These next three pictures are the before pics.

The hardware had been painted over in a pink color.
I soaked the hardware in a crockpot for many hours to get the paint off.  Unfortunately, the hardware punctured the crockpot bag, and I felt unsure to use it in the future with paint water up against the inside, so I had to buy a new crockpot.  After soaking the hardware, the pink stripped off beautifully.  To my dismay, though, there was a cream & olive drab color underneath that DID NOT want to come off.
Here is the paint layer that didn't want to budge.
I gave up on not using chemicals and went for the powerful stuff.  This piece in the pic below-- I tried acetone on, and then I went and bought paint stripper for the rest.  Wowzer---that's some powerful stuff!  ...and it worked!  The hardware was now back to its' original state.  I planned on just using rub n buff for the hardware, but I was SET on having them black.  Well, I found an ebony one and tried it---ick!  It looked grey.  No bueno!  I ended up spray painting them a metallic black.

While spending a few days on the hardware, Danny graciously did the dirty work and sanded the whole baby down.  We weren't going to sand it at first, but I really wanted it to be nice and smooth when we were done with it.

I couldn't wait to paint these gorgeous details!  Danny said that parts of the dresser had originally been gold.  These flowers looked like they had been green at one time.

...and TADA!!!  Isn't she beautiful!!  I thought about distressing it or doing some kind of antiquing glaze, but I couldn't bring myself to do it.  I fell in love with it as is!  I put 5 layers of clear top coat in hopes that all of our moving won't damage the paint job too bad!
