Final Touches

We (I mean Danny) got to try a board and batten wall for the first time! Because we live in base housing, we have to keep the damage minimal. I even avoid painting walls. I wanted something more for the wall that is the focal point of the apartment, so I started searching pinterest for ideas. I found so many board and batten walls and I didn't quite know how to pull that off on a wall without destroying it...oh and did I mention that the wall is cement?! Well, I looked at OBI (German hardware store) anyways and found these super thin boards. I thought that maybe I could just put them up with 3M strips. I bought primer, paint, sandpaper, and a ton of 3M strips and brought them home. Danny, as usual, is a great sport and took on the challenge. Unfortunately the 3M strips weren't the greatest, but we found that little white nails would actually go into the concrete! So we did a combination of 3M strips AND little nails, and this was the end product. I was so happy with the results.

I had also bought hooks to hang coats and batted my eyelashes some more and asked Danny to create something with the leftover boards from the board and batten wall. These hooks are a lifesaver! The kids don't throw their coats on the ground anymore. It is ah.maz.ing!!!
Embry was a great little helper.
