Valentine's DIY
So I have NEVER decorated for Valentine's Day. I didn't plan on doing it now or in the future either. But I love crafts. And I'm a stay-at-home mom. And I need to stay busy. And I refuse to continue binge watching TV shows like I did over Christmas break. So I made some Valentine's decorations. It's silly to some. It's fun to me!
First craft: A LOVE hanging pennant. I made two. I purchased cardboard pennants from Hobby Lobby and some pretty paper. I cut out the paper and modge-podged them to the triangles (when using modge podge, I wiped the back side of the paper with a foam brush first...then after getting it stuck on the cardboard where I wanted and wiping out any bubbles, I then put a layer on top). While letting them dry, I painted the letters with paint I already owned and glued them with craft glue to the cardboard. I added a couple of burlap flowers I also found at the store and used my leftover twine to string it.
2nd craft: I had Danny sand these random blocks of wood found in the garage. It was freezing the day I did this, so I brought them in the house and stained them inside. Next I modge-podged squares of the paper leftover from the hanging pennants I made. Then I glued hearts (I bought them from Hobby Lobby) that I had stained and then modge-podged with coordinating paper. Then a big oops happened. I laid the hearts, with glue on the back, onto the blocks and stacked some heavy objects on top to get it to lay flat and dry. After I came back after an hour, I found out that when I put the heavy stuff on top, it moved one of the hearts completely off center. Instead of ripping it off and starting over, I worked with where it had dried and added a heart crooked on top of it. ...and I love how it turned out!
I changed out my centerpiece flowers for some bright pink ones.
And lastly, (I already showed this in another post), I made and hung these Valentine's-inspired fabric ball garland.
We are now ready for the month of LOVE!
