It Never Ends!

I had to wrap up 2017 with some DIY projects of course!  I made this mini table runner at the beginning of December and I love how it protects the table from being scratched. Last week, I packed away our Christmas decor with the red/green jars for my table centerpiece. I painted new jars white and added new flowers to replace the Christmas ones.
The day I decided to take down my Christmas tree, I received these felt balls I had ordered in the mail.  I had been wanting to make garland for our tree.  Here was the first strand I made.  I ended up making 3 like this with reds, white & creams, and grey.  I had no idea how many feet of garland could actually wrap around a tree!  I had to make a lot! I really like the way it turned out and I can't wait to actually put it on our tree next year at the beginning of the Christmas season and enjoy it.

I had ordered a bag of felt balls in mixed colors so I got motivated to use the rest of the colors for more garland for other things. I first laid them out in coordinating piles.  My sister wanted the mustard yellow ones as garland for her office, and I wanted to use the pinks for Valentine's Day decor.

My Valentine's Day garland turned out to be really cute.

Here is the garland I made for my sister's office.

Next, I asked my wonderful hubby to make me a blanket ladder for our bedroom.  I asked (nicely) for him to stain it and then paint it white with light distressing.  I was so pleased with how it came out!
Freezing cold temperatures don't stop us these days!  We just bring it in the house and shut it with its smell in the laundry room!

My absolute favorite project that Danny completed over Christmas was these 2 BEAUTIFUL cutting boards.  Danny had purchased a pile of wood scraps from the lumber yard where we bought the Maple wood for our table.  He smoothed them all down and laid them out in a pattern.  This is cutting board number 1.
Here cutting board number 2 is all glued up and drying.
After a LOT of sanding, Danny had them nice and smooth like he wanted.  He then was able to use his router for the first time and rounded the edges of the boards.
Last, Danny had to put a coat of a special oil on the board and we watched the colors come alive. Then he put on 3 coats of a cutting board wax. My favorite board (the one below) has 3 pieces of wood that have a gold hue. It's beautiful.
The finished product! They are huge and simply gorgeous!!!

Look at those perfectly rounded edges from the router!
