Brussels, Belgium

I found out that the Brussel's flower carpet's 50th anniversary was this year! They haven't done the carpet in the last 4 years due to COVID, and in normal times, there is a carpet only every 2 years. When I found out that it was only displayed for a few days, I decided to go! I asked the kids if any of them wanted to come, and Eli jumped at the chance for more delicious fries and waffles. A couple of days later, we were on the train to Brussels to see a beautiful sight!
It was a wonderful surprise that our hotel was surrounded by (the next 3 pictures): fries, waffles and chocolate.

I took soooo many pictures of the flower carpet both the first night and the next day.

Our meal that evening was fries and a waffle. We ate waffles for lunch the next day, too :).

All of the streets in Brussels had beautiful decor hanging from building to building. Each street had something a little bit different.

We enjoyed the beautiful cathedral as well.

We then took a hike through the city to find the famous Manneken Pis. We also hunted for the Jeanneke Pis and the Zinneke Pis. So weird that this is famous!
We then took the train to the Atomium and to Little Europe. This was super fun to see!

It was cool to see the carpet miniaturized!

This was a piece of the Berlin Wall.

These were the best waffles ever! I put Belgian chocolate and salted caramel drizzle on mine with biscuit cookie crumbles. YUMMO.
It was kind of a nightmare getting home. Our train was cancelled and we had to take a BUNCH of trains to different locations until we finally made it home!
One train we rode on looked like this (below). I was sweating like crazy because there was no a/c and there were so many people! Eli and I were 2 of the lucky ones to be sitting in a seat and didn't feel claustrophobic!
