A New Bench

Just in time for our move, Danny made me a new midcentury-looking bench!
We had wood left over from the table, so I didn't think it would hurt to ask for something else ;).

Danny added these little corner crevice pieces to help secure the corners even more.
He wanted to make sure it was sturdy, so he had to try it out.
He then added a black shelf underneath.
Before he attached the black shelf, he stained the wood with a light stain and I hated it. Just like the table, the maple wood had troubles taking the stain evenly and the shellac method didn't allow much saturation at all. He was nice enough to sand it down, and restain it the darker color. We couldn't be choosy knowing the packers are coming this week, and we stained it with the only dark stain we had, Jacobean. I liked it much better.

He then added polyurethane and here is the finished product. I was quite pleased! The grain is so beautiful!
