Kyoto

Danny and I took a trip to Kyoto, Japan without the kids over Spring break!  We had a great time touring the gorgeous town.  The first picture is where the spirits of the dead come once a year.  They light up the hillside like the picture below.

 The beautiful Golden Pavilion.

Every rock was a gift and has meaning.

 Wishes

 A typical street in Kyoto.
 They still have these?????!!

The cherry blossoms were in full bloom!!!

The inner moat of the shogun's castle.

I got to hang out with this handsome thing ;).

There were women dressed in kimonos everywhere!

A maiko!  These are interns to be a Geisha (Geiko).

 There were weddings everywhere!

We went to this Geisha show.

This is where the Maiko live.
 ...another Maiko sighting!.

 The thousand Torii gates.

 so handsome ;)...

These are out of order---these are on the way to Kyoto.  We were excited to be childrenless!

 Danny's happy place!
Our first night there, we found a hole in the wall restaurant.  It was a delicious ramen place.
We also had to go shopping for a coat---because I was freezing!!!!
 ...thinking about our baby!
 Fish market
 Dried squid and octopus

 A yummy sushi-go-round
 Anyone???
Our last morning there we found a great bakery and restaurant.  It was the perfect last meal in Kyoto!
