World's Largest Tug-of-War!

We drove down to Naha to witness the tug-of-war that takes place once a year.  It symbolizes the east against the west.  People cut the rope afterwards and keep it in their house for good luck all year long.  Evan and I squeezed through the massive crowds and got to pull on the rope.  Evan was grabbed up by several people to pose in pictures with.  He also picked at the rope and put pieces in his pocket...so I guess we will have good luck this year :).  These first two pictures show the rope hours before the crowds arrived.

Eli enjoyed being packed around in the moby.
Do you like the portion size of McFlurries in Okinawa?  They are tons smaller...probably why Asians are smaller than Americans, haha!
Evan got tired of waiting and sat down with one of the performers.

They would balance these poles on their white waist bands.

I LOVE this picture...this shows real life...Evan irritated and not wanting to be in pictures, and Eli wanting to jump out of the moby and run away...
 Muscles!!!!
 Part of Kokasai Street!
 We LOVE Sheesa Dogs!
LOL...the purple things are a really popular sweet treat here.  There are made out of sweet potatoes.  I think they are far from appealing :)

You can see the rope in the distance...
