Milan, Italy (First Two Days of our Italy Trip)

We flew into Milan on July 15th. The steward on Lufthansa gave the kids around 15 chocolates. They were happy. Once we got to Milan and checked into the hotel, we loved eating some Italian food right away!

We then checked out the train station and then took the Metro to the city square.

The Duomo was amazing! We had tickets for the following day to see inside and go on the rooftop.

This is the ritzy shopping area.

We made sure to spin our heel on the bull 3 times for good luck (a legend in Milan).
Then we walked through the city and found a Starbucks Roastery/Starbucks Reserve. It was very cool inside and had its own line of products.

Because it was "officially" Eli's birthday (we celebrated a day early) he demanded gelato!

We went back to the square to take some more photos.

The next morning, we had booked tickets to see Da Vinci's Last Supper painting at the Santa Maria delle Grazie. It was incredible to see.

On the opposite wall was this gorgeous painting by Giovanni Donato da Montorfano called The Crucification.
In the bottom left corner (almost no longer visible) Da Vinci had added a couple of figures to the painting.

We then went back to the Duomo to tour the rooftop. This was such a cool experience.

Then we walked down the stairs to enter inside the Duomo.

The Bartholomew statue was humbling to see (he was literally skinned when he died).

The floors were beautiful.

The bronze ball at the top of the ceiling supposedly has a nail that had pierced Jesus' hands. Danny read somewhere that they bring it down once a year to show it.

We then went to a restaurant that had a mozzarella bar. It was so different from American mozzarella and was so yummy!
My food was amazing.

We found a candy shop for the kids and Embry loved this giant Chupa Chups lollipop!

Candy bar drinks?!

Later that evening, we took the metro to where a castle was and a massive and beautiful park.

In the park we found a playground and these electronic cars/race track. Embry totally wanted the motorcycle!

We then went over to an area known for restaurants and had a very yummy dinner.
