The Making of Embry's Dress!

I had no idea what I was getting myself into, but I don't regret it!  This material was absolutely gorgeous and ended up being nearly $50!  Thank goodness for 50% and 60% off coupons at JoAnn's! I read, reread, and read again the pattern. I was thankful that I had used a couple of patterns in my childhood with my mom, so I knew where the cutting lines were, the folds, and the notches.  Unfortunately I did not know a few other pattern lingo, so YouTube became my best friend.  I started off laying the patterns with the material facing the wrong direction--but thankfully I caught that before any cutting commenced.  I would say out of making the whole dress, the collar of the dress and sizing it perfectly to Embry's tiny, 27lb body were the hardest parts.  The one lesson I learned was to never trim the inside material after sewing, until you are COMPLETELY done.  I had to rip the seams and restitch several times...

The zipper went in beautifully!  I sure love my zipper foot for my sewing machine!

Embry was a good sport since I had her try it on nearly a thousand times.  In these pictures, it was a little tight in the chest, so I went and had to painfully try to rip out parts and resew.  Because I had already trimmed the inside, I unfortunately had to add some material to the back of her dress.  I nearly cried at my dumb mistake!

She loved showing off her flowy sleeves!
And here was the finished product with gold crisscross ribbon on the front. I love that Evan and Eli are her Knights! I DID NOT make their costumes.  I had had enough!
 Our medieval family!
