Embry's Room Revealed!
I worked long and hard on this room and I am still not completely satisfied with a few things in the room. I started in December but a few things I ordered were custom made and I had to wait. I am liking how it is coming along! It is done for now...
Here is one thing I am not totally happy with---the pillows don't match perfectly. I am trying to just "let it go" but it eats at me every time I am in the room :).
Where Embry's crib is---I want to eventually put a cute vanity with a mirror and bench. For now, she needs her crib. Someday!
Because we are in government housing, I cannot hang a chandelier and change out the light in her room. Instead, I found this cool wall chandelier!
I LOVE the pillows, I'm just not happy that the colors aren't perfect!
I ordered this rag quilt special for Embry. I had a girl off of Etsy make it. I love how it turned out! I wanted it to have that shabby chic look!
I am also very pleased with the curtains. They are unique and beautiful!
Here's where I need advice! I love my vintage suitcases as a nightstand, but I didn't like having flowers in the bucket. There were too many flowers in the room. How it's pictured though---I think it looks too plain. I really want to put a beautiful vintage tea cup, but I had to remind myself that this is a kid's room, and it would be broken in a matter of time. I did some research for plastic tea cups, but none spoke to me. I did pull out my plastic Strawberry Shortcake tea set out that I played with as a kid, but I think it looked kind of cheesy. Plus the pieces are so faded that they barely are pink.
So--if you have any ideas for me, I would be glad to hear it! Remember I can't do a lamp or anything breakable! I do love the 1924's Fairy Tale book that I purchased, though!
I love the jumbo name that I ordered off of Etsy! Someday I may sand it down to make it look more worn.
I found these vintage sconces off of Etsy as well. They used to be copper and were painted in ivory.
This tray is my absolute favorite purchase out of the whole room. This was an old frame with glass/material and doorknobs added. It's gorgeous!
I adore this vintage-looking perfume bottle, and the vintage pink glass container.
I am using this glass jar to hold all of her bows.
I love the wire mannequin!
This little sweater was Hannah's when she was a baby (I think). I stole it for my dolls, and then had it hanging in my room as a teenager.
I dug out my Amish doll that Grandma Kisor had made for me. I thought it was perfect to pass it down to my daughter!
I want to impress on my daughter to focus on inner beauty and to not change for society influences around her. I love this sign. I hope it is a silent reminder to her in the future to always be herself.
I went for this laundry hamper, because it looks "older". It's not necessarily vintage, but it gives off that appearance.
This is inside Embry's closet. We put a dresser inside it, and this is where we change her diapers. I like that I can close the doors and hide it!
